Cousin Eufala’s Honey-Lime Pork Chop Sauce

Eufala reminds us that the last place a pork chop will live before it moves to the tummy is in the sauce! Her honey-lime sauce makes that one lip-smacking address.

Ingredients (Kitchen-friendly)

  Ingredients (Metric)
3/4 c chicken broth 166 g chicken broth
1 1/2 tsp honey 14 g honey
1/2 tsp lime juice 3 g lime juice
1/8 tsp D.D. Williamson
Caramel Color Powder
0.35 g D.D. Williamson
Caramel Color Powder
1/8 tsp garlic powder 0.4 g garlic powder
dash of pepper 0.13 g pepper
2 tsp cornstarch 5.75 g cornstarch
1 Tbsp water 15 g water

Directions:

  1. Combine chicken broth, honey, lime juice, D.D. Williamson Caramel Color Powder, garlic powder, and pepper in a saucepan.
  2. Heat until boiling.
  3. While broth mixture is heating, in a separate cup, stir cornstarch and cold water together until smooth. When broth mixture boils, add cornstarch and water to the broth mixture.
  4. Return to a boil and let boil for 1-2 minutes or until thickened.
  5. Serve over grilled pork chops.

Tips:

  • Before grilling pork chops they could be marinated over night in the following mixture:
  • 1/2 c lime juice
  • 1/2 c soy sauce, reduced-sodium
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 2 garlic cloves (garlic powder could be substituted)
  • In case chicken broth is not easily accessible, a chicken bouillon cube dissolved in water will work.
